Retired HCPO Capt. Brian Duval has joined Cowan Investigations and is serving as Director of Litigation Support for the private investigations firm.
“Captain Brian Duval brings a wealth of knowledge, skills, and abilities to Cowan Investigations,” said Robert Cowan, owner of the private investigations firm and former Chief of the Jersey City Police Department (JCPD).
Duval, a retired captain from the Hudson County Prosecutors Office (HCPO) with nearly three decades of experience in law enforcement, will be leading the Criminal and Civil Litigation Investigations Division for Cowan Investigations.
At the time of Duval’s retirement in 2020 he was leading the HCPO’s Administrative Services-Management Unit, according to a press release. In that position, Duval was responsible for all aspects of pre- and post-case indictment – including Grand Jury, Central Jury Processing, Trial Teams, Homicide, Special Victims Unit, Narcotic Task Force, Municipal Task Force, Megan’s Law, Fugitive, Forfeiture, Juvenile, Insurance Fraud and Property and Evidence.
In his role with Cowan Investigations, Duval will provide attorneys with trial preparation services.
“Captain Duval has an enormous amount of experience in witness and victim interviews, background research, and the recognition of relevant evidence pertaining to the particular matter under investigation,” said Cowan.
Duval is the latest retired law enforcement officer to join the team of private detectives at Cowan Investigations – which includes retired JCPD Deputy Chief Thomas Cowan (brother of Robert) and retired JCPD Joseph Ascolese.
